Wallerian Degeneration

CT without contrast shows status after old MCA infarct on the right. Note hypodense degeneration in the corticospinal pyramidal tracts on the corresponding side. Wallerian Degeneration (WaD) is a secondary anterograde degeneration of axons and their myelin sheaths caused by proximal axonal or neuronal cell body lesions. MR would show those changes even better.
